Holiday Family-Fun is back in Acadiana!

What a wild nearly two years it has been. This holiday may still have new-normals to adjust to, but there are still things happening, old and new, that will get you and your family in the spirit at a reasonable price.

 Here’s a parish-by-parish breakdown of what’s happening in our little corner of the North Pole:

Acadia Parish:

      • Crowley’s old-fashioned Christmas celebration in Historic Downtown Crowley. Enjoy this family friendly event offering hot cocoa and photographs

    • Annual City of Rayne Christmas Parade
    • Rayne —  6- 8 pm; Rayne Civic Center and along Gossen Memorial Park Drive
      • Free
      • The parade will finish at the Depot Square where Santa Claus will be waiting to take photos with little ones

  • Saturday, December 11
    • Christmas around the World Open House with Mrs. Claus
    • Crowley — Acadia Parish Library; 1125 N Parkerson Ave, Crowley, LA
      • JChristmas Open House celebrating the return of its Christmas around the World display.
      • Mrs. Claus will be there for photos, and her elf will also be on hand to help the children make a bag of reindeer food to sprinkle in their yards. Christmas books in our children's section will be available for check out!

    • Shadows Christmas Craft Market

      • Shadows-on-the-Teche is hosting a craft market. The Shadows Christmas Craft Market will have vendors from around Louisiana . Find local crafts and art to cross off your list!

      • The New Iberia Downtown Alliance presents New Iberia’s annual Christmas parade. The Lighting of the Community Christmas takes place prior in front of City Hall
    • Delcambre Christmas Boat Parade

      • Lighted boat parade and family fun for all.

    • Downtown Lafayette Lighting of the Tree ft Chubby Carrier

      • Lighting of the Downtown Christmas tree followed by live music from Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band. There will be photos by Exposure Selfies ft. Santa and Mrs. Claus, holiday crafts with the Children’s Museum of Acadiana and food by the Funnel Cake Factory and Cravinboudin

    • Lafayette Sonic Christmas Parade 
      • Lafayette — 1 pm, Downtown Lafayette, Jefferson St
      • Free
      • Parade begins at the Jefferson Street underpass and concludes in the Oil Center. Replete with floats, high school marching bands and dance clubs.  Kids should bring their letters to Santa to the parade where they will be collected and mailed to the North Pole

St. Martin Parish:

  • December 4
    • Christmas Stories with Santa
      • Breaux Bridge — 9, 10 and 11 am, 12:30 and 1:30 pm; KSquared Creative Co; 113 N Main St
      • $15 per family
      • The 45-minute experience features Santa sharing photos, cookies and stories. He will share the story of "The Cajun Night Before Christmas" After story time, decorate ornaments and shop for your stocking. Photos will be taken upon arrival and available to pick up after.

    • Creole Christmas in St. Martinville
      • St. Martinville — 10 am - 3 pm; Longfellow-Evangeline Historic Site; 1200 N Main St
      • Tour the Olivier Plantation Home [circa 1815] and see the lovely natural, period-appropriate Christmas decorations each day. Visitors will learn how the holiday was celebrated by Creole plantation owners in the mid 1800's.

      • Live music, a holiday market, train and tractor rides for the children, along with free gumbo and jambalaya served at 5 pm, are sure to please for Christmas in Erath!

    • Abbeville's Cajun Christmas Celebration
