The Meritus Credit Union employee volunteer program assists local non-profits with the manpower they need to create positive outcomes!

Community Involvement in 2019

  • 61 staff members completed 244 hours volunteering
  • Provided 22 financial literacy presentations, reaching over 725 students
  • Gave over $70k to the communities we serve via sponsorships, scholarships and donations
  • 59 Financial Peace University students graduated, paying off $164,509 in consumer debt 

The agencies our volunteer groups have supported:

ASSIST Program

We’ve participated in the summer food service/recreation programs which provide a free breakfast and lunch for eight weeks in the summer in Jeff Davis and Acadia Parishes. All meals are free for children 1-18 and the recreation program is free and open to children in grades K-8. Learn more

Career Connections Expo

Meritus Credit Union visited with 4,000 high school students about credit union careers and financial education. Learn more


For several years staff members have assisted with food collection and sorting for the FoodNet Food for Families Drive. Learn more

Jeep Jaunt

We’ve volunteered for several years at the annual ‘Jeep Jaunt’ supporting the American Lung Association. The “Jeep Jaunt” is like no other charity event. It is a police- escorted ride of approximately 40 miles and all jeeps and 4×4’s are welcome. Learn more

Lafayette Education Foundation

Our staff volunteers for the “Pin Patrol” each year in which nominated teachers are recognized for their outstanding achievements. Learn more

Lafayette Habitat for Humanity

We’ve sponsored and support the annual “Women Build” event helping to build homes for those in our community. Learn more


LARC’s mission is to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in reaching their goals of self-sufficiency, quality of life and self-worth. Each year we volunteer at LARC’s Noel Acadien au Village which is held during Christmas time and supports their mission. Learn more

We’ve supported Rebuilding Together Acadiana in efforts to revitalize and renew deserving homes in our area. Learn more

Salvation Army

Staff donated Christmas gifts for the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree gift program. Learn more

We’ve partnered with United Way of Acadiana to support local children going back to school and donated school supplies for their annual “Stuff the Bus” campaign. Learn more
