A Message from CEO Connie S. Roy about COVID-19

Dear members,

As you know, I have a deep passion for assisting our members who are struggling financially, especially at this unprecedented time. In the past month I’ve heard from many members whose income has been decreased and were looking for guidance on cost saving measures in order to make ends meet.

As our community continues to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, Meritus Credit Union remains committed to providing the services you need most, while keeping both you and our employees safe in the process.

We know that unprecedented times like this can cause fear and uncertainty, which is why I want to make sure all of our members know that we are here to support you. If you’re a saver, please know that your money is safe with the credit union. If you have been impacted by COVID-19 or the oil and gas industry downturn and need financial support, know that we’re here to help. It’s a great time while you are at home to call your credit union to learn about opportunities to lower those high interest rates on mortgages, credit cards or autos currently with other financial institutions and come home to your local credit union.

We’re Here for You: We are committed to providing the best possible service. While our lobbies remain closed, members still have access to all branch drive-thrus as well as an array of digital banking options. And yes! You can complete cost saving transactions (like refinancing high interest debt) while in pajamas by using your devices at home!

Coronavirus Resources: Our team has assembled several resources related to the coronavirus outbreak and how that may affect your finances. On our blog you may read more about what to do with your savings, how to manage your money during a crisis, and how to help your community through tough times. I’d also suggest that you check out some great content on Dave Ramsey’s blog including how to prepare for a recession and how the pandemic can affect the economy. We are constantly monitoring developments regarding the pandemic and will continue to update our health and safety page as necessary.

Spread Joy, Not Germs: I encourage you to follow our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram as we seek to spread joy, not germs. You’ll find helpful hints, giveaways and a peak as to how we’re keeping our spirits up during this time.

We take your trust very seriously and are dedicated to helping you during this time of uncertainty. If there’s anything we can do to help, feel free to contact me personally at [email protected] and I’ll get you started in the right direction. Please stay safe and know that we are doing everything we can to benefit our members, employees and community.
